Learning Center

Montpellier Business School attended the annual English-speaking world event for the first time : The MoodleMoot Global, which took place in Barcelona, between the 17th and the 21rst of September. It was an opportunity for users, developers, administrators and educators of the learning platform to get together, exchange ideas, share experiences and learn from each other.

Immersed for four days in the world of online education passionate people, we had the opportunity to take part in training sessions given by Moodle experts, as well as collaborative workshops to improve our use of the Moodle platform and deepen our skills. Between discussions to share our needs, discovering the latest innovations, information on the latest updates and developments to come, it was an experience punctuated by very enriching exchanges.

The international dimension of this event allows us to project ourselves onto the Moodle of tomorrow, for pedagogical uses and teaching methods that are constantly evolving.

To sum up, taking part in an event like the MoodleMoot Global, is an opportunity to develop our professional networks, meet suppliers and potential future partners, and grow professionally to enhance our expertise.

The contribution by MBS educational engineers Florence Barrère, Valérie Landa and Lina Manolova, entitled "Un template de cours pour engager les enseignants et les étudiants" ("A course template to engage teachers and students") was selected and included in the official programme of the major event of the French-speaking moodle community in the form of a 30-minute conference. 

The event took place in Troyes on 7 July! 

The Learning Center team has been working diligently since 2017 on the development of an online course template, and three improved versions have already been put online, demonstrating the team's ongoing commitment to improving online learning. 

Why so much dedication to creating and making available a template for our teachers? 

Ultimately, of course, to improve the learning experience for students; to create more effective and engaging online courses; to standardise the teaching platform graphically... 

The moodlers gave an enthusiastic welcome to the conference presented by Valérie Landa and Lina Manolova, and there are plans for smaller discussions with counterparts from other institutions. This will be an opportunity to share our in-depth approach and experience. Watch the replay of our conference.  

Why did you respond to this call for papers? 

The Learning Centre's expertise is recognised both internally and in the professional networks of the ecosystem to which we belong.  

Challenging ourselves at a national level within a very broad professional network of experts was a challenge we took up with flying colours! We shone and made MBS shine.

Have you ever thought that your course page is too long?
Usually the course sessions are displayed one below the other and as a student it can be difficult to find the document you are looking for!

There is a simple solution: Moodle's 'Tiles' view! This view has many advantages.
Firstly, it allows you to see an overview of the course, each section of the course is illustrated by an interactive image. With a click of the mouse, the content unfolds or collapses.
The student's progress is displayed at the course level, but it can also be set at the level of each tile.

Navigation through the course is then greatly simplified as it is more visual for the student.

Keeping a technical and pedagogical watch is part of the scope of action and expertise of the Learning Center staff.

We are constantly discovering and testing tools, solutions and techniques that we will then choose to disseminate to the MBS community in order to provide answers adapted to its needs.

Since last September, ChallengeMe has joined the range of solutions made available within MBS for teaching-learning activities. This peer evaluation platform, which is fully integrated into our LMS, makes it possible to design systems in which learners progress in their learning thanks to the feedback they receive from other learners in an environment designed by their teacher.

The ChallengeMe platform is acclaimed for its ease of use for both teachers and students and, as a result, it enables the rapid dissemination of a learning device that is strongly believed in at the learning centre, peer assessment. The results: more visible learning and progress coupled with greater student commitment!

ChallengeMe is also a team of coaches who are attentive, responsive and available; a company founded in Montpellier and we are happy to contribute to the dynamics of a company in our region!

You already know Wooclap! MBS has been working with this Belgian startup co-founded by Sébastien LEBBE for almost 4 years.

The strength of Wooclap lies in its case of use: Nothing to install or download on your computer, no account to create. All you need is an internet connection and an MBS email address to access all the features!

Teachers use it to energise their lessons and interact with their students and monitor their learning.
You use it on your computer or smartphone to answer questions.

Surprise your audience by creating a Wooclap event. During an oral presentation, for example, use the Wooclap features to capture the attention of your audience, including your teacher! To make your student associations come alive, use the “competition” mode to rank the fastest students among the correct answer!

Transforming an oral presentation by involving the whole assembly is then within your reach.

Interactivity, collaboration and engagement in your courses and meetings  

For the past 3 years Montpellier Business School has been working with Wooclap teams to offer its learners, teachers and collaborators a new experience during classes and/or meetings.   

You have probably already contributed to a Wooclap live survey. Or perhaps you have already created a quiz or an interactive game with this tool.   

But did you know that Wooclap is constantly evolving and new features appear almost every month? We propose this series of articles that will focus on a new feature or functionality.   

This month, let's talk about gamification and challenges! Indeed, it is now possible to create teams to answer Wooclap questions. But did you know that it is also possible to combine the team mode and the competition mode? Discover this new way to go further in gamification as well as other exciting use cases in this article from the Wooclap team blog!

Wooclap: The expertise of educational engineers in action!

Connecting users with the technical-pedagogical tools of MBS is part of the current activity of the Learning Center.

The role of the educational engineer is to propose THE solution adapted to your learning objective, your teaching preferences and the specificities of your audience after having analysed your needs.

Wether you are a teacher, a student or an employee, you will be pampered by a team that will train you in the use of the tool and, above all, help you discover unsuspected uses that will make sense in your teaching or your meeting!

You probably already knew that!

However, did you know that we are invited to // contribute to share our experience and our expertise – Brainstorm // around themes such as “Communicating better on digital tools” or “How to optimise the use of Wooclap in the classroom? ”.

Our partner Wooclap regularly organises roud tables that bring together educational engineers from other partner schools and universities to discuss freely.

A single objective, to model the tool to adapt it to the field, to you and your needs! The door is wide open to contribute to the evolution of the Wooclap tool and more generally to question our teaching practises and innovate!
