Résumé : | Recent years have seen a considerable increase in the literature concerning the separate areas of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Supply Chain Management (SCM). However, little scholarly attention has been paid to the implementation of CSR at Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) suppliers’ level. Therefore, the goal of this research is to contribute to fill the gap in literature concerning the implementation of CSR in upstream supply chains of SMEs. Qualitative data were collected during semi-structured interviews with SME managers in charge of CSR issues. We then performed a content analysis. Our findings suggest that, within the local community, implementing CSR practices in upstream supply chains is an opportunity for SMEs to improve logistical performance. The findings also show that the implementation is limited to first rank suppliers and to the environmental dimension. Lack of resources and short-term operational issues are the main obstacles SMEs face. (source auteur) |
